This 8 week Unit of Learning (UoL) was designed for Junior Cycle students and inspired by Martin Gales work.  Students were tasked to research and explore their local park situated by the river Suir in Co. Tipperary. Selecting an area within the park to paint and using knowledge of perspective, students included elements of nature and human presence within the composition of their paintings. Students visited the site over the course of the project to sketch, photograph, gather primary sources, work en plein air before refining and creating the final painting in class. Using classroom ICT students also developed their knowledge through researching artists and building a body of information and visual studies.
