This 6 week Unit of Learning (UoL) was inspired by Pablo Picasso’s work. Students were tasked to create one A4 self portrait print in a cubist inspired style. Students will research and explore cubism, self portraiture and printmaking in this unit of learning and also have the option of to explore colour to through a variety of media. Students gained an understanding of the cubist movement and its place in history, Picasso as an artist, knowledge around the elements of art through sketching, photography, collage and understand the printmaking process of lino cutting. Using classroom ICT students researched artists, built a body of visual imagery, gathering information and exploring virtual tours of exhibitions.
