This 3 week ceramic Unit of Learning (UoL) was inspired by Van Gogh's paintings of sunflowers. Students explored images of Van Gogh's work and viewed lectures from online resources like the National Gallery of Art and Tate gallery to gain a deeper understanding of Post Impressionism. Students explored a variety of media from sketching, photographing, gathering visual resources, while developing their ceramic techniques and knowledge. Students followed the design process through the transfer of skills from 2D to 3D, exploring the elements of art and principles of design and using classroom ICT to build a body of information and visual studies.
